Maple-Sweetened Apple Crisp Recipe

Ingredients

  • 6 medium apples, peeled and sliced
  • 2 tbsp pure maple syrup
  • ½ cup rolled oats
  • ½ cup whole wheat flour
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg
  • ⅓ cup butter, melted
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 baking dish.
  2. Drizzle apples with 2 tbsp maple syrup and spread in dish.
  3. In a bowl, combine oats, flour, spices, melted butter, and remaining maple syrup.
  4. Spread topping evenly over apples.
  5. Bake 40 minutes, until golden and bubbly.

Tips for Success

  • Use darker (Grade B) maple syrup for a stronger flavor.
  • Reduce maple syrup slightly if your apples are extra sweet.
  • Add chopped pecans or walnuts to the topping for crunch.
