Friday Dinners Your Kids Will Love This Lenten Season

Sharing is caring!

In many Catholic circles, we tend to consider meatless Fridays (or Fish Fridays) a “litte t” tradition, except during the Lenten Season. This practice is a form of penance to help us reflect on Christ’s Sacrifice, and an important part of preparing our hearts during Lent. That being said it can be challenge to find Lent-Friendly meals your kids will be excited about.

In today’s post I am going to share some wins I have had over the years that are both kid and church approved.

Tips for Making Lent-Friendly Meals Kids Will Love

Keep meals simple and familiar: This is not the time to be introducing tofu OR mahi mahi for the first time. Stick to the tried and true, and start with proteins your children already enjoy.

Make It Fancy: If your kids enjoy fish sticks, maybe try fish tacos, instead of just plain fish, or maybe a quiche instead of a typical breakfast for dinner.

Let them help: I have found that kids are more likely to eat the foods they help prepare, than the ones they don’t. Whether they are helping you plan the meal, chopping the vegetables mixing up he seasonings there is always something for little hands to do to bring them closer to the process, and more likely to give it a try.
